Black Women Organized for Political Action issued the following statement on the passing of United States Senator Dianne Feinstein:
Over 50 years ago, BWOPA charter members Hon. Ella Hill Hutch and Hon. Doris Ward worked closely in tandem with the U.S. Senator Feinstein on a myriad of social issues during her tenure as San Francisco Board of Supervisors and San Francisco Mayor.
We are saddened this morning to learn of the passing of such a legendary and iconic leader of our nation and send our heartfelt condolences to her family.
BWOPA founding member and state President Dezie Woods-Jones recalls Senator Feinstein hosted BWOPA's first annual board retreat. "We have fond memories to cherish of the work accomplished together on behalf of our most vulnerable and underserved communities. The Senator is truly a trailblazer!
Thank you for your years of service Senator," shares Dezie Woods Jones, BWOPA founding member and state President.
May her profound legacy of supporting women's rights and leadership continue to be front and center.
