Building Our Black Power: Ella Hill Hutch Honors 2024

Ella Hill Hutch Honors: Building Our Black Power

Save the Date: December 5, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

We are thrilled to announce the Annual Ella Hill Hutch Honors Ceremony, set for Thursday, December 5th, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the beautiful Fairmont/Claremont Hotel in the Oakland/Berkeley Hills.

We warmly invite our community partners to join us for an inspiring evening as we honor local and state leaders who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to civic engagement and social justice.

Your sponsorship plays a vital role in our mission to build Black political power across California—city by city, block by block, and partner by partner. This event celebrates the vision and dedication of our 12 co-founders, who worked tirelessly to uplift and empower Black women in leadership roles. We are proud to honor the legacy of Ella Hill Hutch, the first Black woman elected to the SF Board of Supervisors, who championed the voices of underrepresented Black communities in San Francisco and the East Bay during the late 1960s. Her work continues to inspire us all.

In her spirit, we invite your organization to support our efforts to cultivate a new generation of Black women change agents. As a sponsor, you will receive prominent recognition in our outreach communications, enjoy program speaking opportunities, receive special onsite acknowledgment, and gain pre-event VIP access for you and your guests.

As California's oldest organization of its kind, BWOPA proudly recognizes extraordinary Black women leaders and activists. We also honor a “Man of the Year” and induct a new cohort of Black men into our "Main Horses" circle, named by founding member Edith Austin, for their unwavering support of Black women's rights.

This year, we are excited to introduce the "DWJ Rising Star" award, which honors young leaders showing exceptional promise and dedication to civic engagement and social justice. This award is a tribute to founding leader Dezie Woods Jones and recognizes the next generation poised to make significant impacts in our communities.

As we celebrate BWOPA's 56th anniversary of empowering African-American women through education and advocacy in public policy, your partnership is essential in continuing this legacy and strengthening our collective power.   Please review our sponsorship package, which outlines various opportunities and benefits.  We hope you find an option that aligns with your needs.

We look forward to your partnership as we celebrate outstanding advocates in the Bay Area. Your support is invaluable, and we look forward to your participation.

For any questions, please contact Cathy Adams at [email protected].

Thank you for considering this opportunity to partner with us in realizing equity, justice, and equality.

 Sincerely,

Dezie Woods Jones, State President, BWOPA/TILE

LaNiece Jones State Executive Director/COO, BWOPA/TILE
