In Conversation with Rep Simon

BWOPA-PAC was honored to host our beloved BWOPA sister, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon for an intimate conversation on organizing in this political moment.

Throughout the discussion, Congresswoman Simon challenged us to remain proximate to the communities we serve, to listen before prescribing solutions, and to remember that those most impacted by injustice must be at the center of our work.

From stories of organizing alongside young Black women at the Young Women’s Freedom Center to reflections on leadership, accountability, and community power, the conversation was both inspiring and grounding.   One message rang clear: meaningful change begins with relationships, trust, and a willingness to ask people what they actually need.

We were grateful to share space with BWOPA leaders, advocates, elected officials, nonprofit professionals, entrepreneurs, and community partners committed to building stronger communities across the Bay Area and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and virtually. The conversation may have ended, but the work continues.
