BWOPA/TILE’s 2025 Legislative Day of Advocacy & Action was a resounding success—bringing together passionate members, partners, and community advocates for a powerful day at the State Capitol.
Following a robust virtual prep session on May 14, participants arrived energized and informed, ready to engage lawmakers on the most pressing issues impacting Black women, families, and communities across California. CHECK OUT OUR 2025 PHOTO ALBUM,
Highlights included:

In partnership with NAACP-CA and AKA Far Western Region - a dynamic morning training on legislative advocacy and how to navigate the policymaking process

Inspiring meet-and-greets with California Black Legislative Caucus (CBLC) members and key staff

Strategic group meetings with state legislators focused on advancing BWOPA’s policy agenda in:

Health equity (including maternal and mental health)

Education access and outcomes
-
Criminal justice reform
-
Economic security and opportunity
-
The day fostered deep dialogue, strengthened alliances, and sparked renewed momentum to continue the fight for racial and gender equity in policymaking. Most importantly, it reaffirmed the collective power of Black women and allies speaking truth to power.
