Power Up Your Advocacy Skills

Black women have long been at the forefront of advocacy, policy change, and movement-building—yet access to the tools and training needed to effectively navigate the state, local, and federal landscape remains a challenge. The Black Women Power Up Advocacy Series is designed to change that.

This monthly training series is designed and hosted by BWOPA’s Training Institute for Leadership Enrichment and Los Angeles African American Women’s Political Action Committee to equip Black women with the professional development skills necessary to become powerful voices in health, education, criminal justice, and economic security. Whether you’re an emerging advocate, a seasoned leader, or looking to sharpen your skills, this is the space for you.

Our objective is to empower Black women with the professional development skills needed to be effective advocates for health, education, criminal justice, and economic security at the state, local, and federal levels.  Our philosophy is that in order to be able to champion and win on all fronts, it's important that we are equipped and skilled To take on the myriad of issues that impact of local communities.   It's our collective role to be each other's sisters keepers.  We should not look to outside allies to pour into us.  It's our duty to pour into Each other.

We have curated an annual monthly schedule on a variety of topics to empower each other.

What to Expect:
+ Social media skills development
+ Public speaking mastery
+ Legislative briefings on BWOPA core issues
+ Strategies to influence decision-makers & build coalitions
