We Stand w/ Dolores Huerta
Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA) stands in unwavering solidarity with Dolores Huerta and all women who have come forward with their truths.
We recognize the courage it takes to speak after years, often decades, of silence. As has been recently revealed, Ms. Huerta shared that she endured trauma while helping to build a movement rooted in justice and dignity for farmworkers.
BWOPA believes women.
We listen to women.
We stand with women.
We also acknowledge the deep complexity of this moment. Movements for justice are often built by many hands, yet no legacy should come at the expense of silencing harm. Naming truth does not diminish the collective struggle, it strengthens it.
As an organization grounded in the leadership, protection, and advancement of Black women and girls, BWOPA affirms:
• Survivors deserve to be heard without question or dismissal
• Silence, especially when rooted in protecting a cause, should never be required of women
• Accountability and healing must coexist with our commitment to justice
We join others across the nation in centering care, dignity, and respect for those impacted. We also commit to continuing the work of building movements where women are safe, valued, and believed, not only in words, but in action.
To Ms. Huerta and all survivors,
We hear you. We honor you. We stand with you.
